Mission Statement
Nevada County Christian Fellowship Mission Statement 2009
Nevada County Christian Fellowship (NCCF) exists to enjoy God within a community of His people, for His glory. Our mission is to share that joy with others through the proclamation of the Good News that Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried and rose again the third day. Our goal is to spread the pleasure of knowing Jesus to our individual neighborhoods, the Brunswick area, Nevada County and the nations, establishing faithful Christian communities.
A Qualified Mission
Jesus has equipped NCCF for a particular kind of ministry within the local Christian community, which we are uniquely qualified to fill and it is found in our Mission Statement for 2009. Ultimately, everything we do and say as a community of believers is subject to the Word of God, found in the Bible.
Therefore, we will take up our mission with this attitude:
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
We affirm that we will only be as effective as we are faithful to Jesus Christ and the Word of God. Our success in this endeavor will be determined solely by Him:
The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
The leaders and core members of NCCF commit our selves to the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, through unfailing love, praying fervently in the name of Jesus for His direction, to the glory of the Father. We move forward under the authority of the Gospel and the Word of God. May He give us many souls!
Philosophy of the Mission
Our mission is to spread the Good News, through the proclamation of the Word, modeled in loving Christian community. First, we will take the Gospel to those in the individual neighborhoods where we live, as well as the Brunswick basin in Grass Valley. We seek a high profile, visible presence in the Brunswick, where the people of Nevada County will experience genuine Christian fellowship, Christ-exalting worship and the teaching of God’s Word in a corporate setting.
We will replicate that vision, planting home fellowships and visible churches in neighborhood communities throughout Nevada County and beyond.
The mission will be rolled out and progress in stages. The most dramatic change in our current philosophy of ministry is this: There will no longer be a “missions” department or head — everyone at NCCF is on mission and urged to follow Peter’s imperative:
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence… 1 Peter 3:15
The elders/pastors will consistently and simply communicate this vision and mission to NCCF, in order that each member will have a clear understanding of our goals, our direction and their role on the team.
The Mission
Leadership
The present leadership will specialize in and focus on praise/worship, teaching, administration, counseling, discipleship, oversight and the implementation of our mission.
Prospective elder/pastors, servant/deacons, teachers, worship leaders, children’s ministries, counselors and others will be trained and mentored, using materials consistent with our mission, emphasizing qualified, loving, hospitable and shared leadership in the Body of Christ. NCCF will look beyond our own community to seek others for short-term internships.
New leaders at NCCF are emerging. The first generation of elder/pastors will transition to a greater role in mentoring new leaders, providing experience, wisdom, counsel and encouragement. New and emerging elders/pastors and ministry heads will take a greater role in instructing NCCF, overseeing the church and casting the vision for NCCF.
Facilities
Our present facility will be used, while combing the Brunswick basin for a leased facility that is highly visible, convenient to the main traffic arteries and appropriate for renovation to meet the needs of the mission. Our present facility will be retained for offices, small group events, financial leverage and as a “fall-back” facility. As the Lord blesses, we will seek a fairly large campus somewhere in the immediate area (Loma Rica Ranch, Whispering Pines, Idaho Maryland or the Brunswick).
Ministries
During the first phase, the elders will anchor Sundays and Tuesdays. These will be all-church meetings, where the core ministry of NCCF takes place. Members will be instructed, trained and developed in their giftings, while prospective leaders will develop their gifts under proven mentors.
In order to grow and find resources to carry through with our mission, we will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the people in the Brunswick basin and beyond. This may require multiple services on days or at times we are not used to.
Existing ministries to Cameroon, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Uganda and others will be maintained at the current level of giving and participation, but attention and resources must be focused on achieving our immediate objectives.
New ministries will certainly emerge such as a Christian daycare facility, a preschool, a technical training school, a coffee house, church owned business, transitional facilities for men and women, a satellite campus for William Jessup University or seminary.
Planting Seeds
We will establish home fellowships in neighborhoods, where there is not a visible Christian church or presence. Home fellowships that have grown beyond the walls of a house during the week, will seek a storefront in a local strip mall, a fire station, school or other public building to transition to a satellite campus of NCCF, sharing resources such as youth group, worship teams, teachers and Sunday School. Satellites of NCCF, which have qualified and effective leadership, mature ministries and adequate resources, will be considered for birthing as self-supporting churches. Obvious candidates for this sort of ministry include Smartville, Lake Wildwood, Chicago Park and Washington.
When NCCF has accomplished these goals, the next generation of leaders will be tasked with casting the vision for NCCF in the coming years.
