I recently finished reading Real Love for Real Life: The Art and Work of Caring by Andi Ashworth (her husband is writer, performer and producer Charlie Peacock). Hospitality and caregiving in a Christian context has been an interest of mine since the first time I read the Acts of the Apostles. Denise and I have always been blessed to enjoy fellowship in Christian communities that value table fellowship and deep relationships. I am so glad that you shared this, Bo. I think that many of us feel inadequate to serve the body of Christ in some significant way. This concept of hospitality brings our opportunities for service home. Caregiving has become a rare commodity in our cold and hostile modern society. As christians, we can provide a soft and secure place to land for the many people who don’t have this. The love of Christ in us should motivate us and the opportunity to offer simple hospitality gives us direction. Thanks.
